Juan Gomez: App Indexing: Blurring the Lines Between Your Website and App

You worked really hard to create a great Android app that provides a better experience for users accessing your content from their mobile devices. And yet most of your users still find themselves on your website being sent there by a Google search or a link they clicked on in an e-mail or another app (like the browser).

Don’t you wish there was a way to send those users back to your app instead?

Well, there is a way to do this, and it’s called App indexing. App Indexing allows you to connect pages from your website with specific content within your Android app. This enables users who have your app installed to open it directly from relevant mobile search results on Google.

Juan will walk us through the code necessary to implement App indexing on both your app and your website, letting you take advantage of this fast and easy way to drive more traffic to your app, providing a better experience for your Android users.

Juan is a Senior Android Engineer at Eventbrite, where he enjoys creating apps and services that help connect millions of people around the world with the events and live experiences they care about the most.

We will cover designing guidelines for accessibility, android api's that help us make the UI more accessible and tools such as Talkback, BrailleBack and Switch Access to test for the same.

Suyash is a a senior software engineer at Oracle working on Enterprise Mobile framework development. He is also your meetup organizer and fellow android enthusiast.
